Jason Solomons is a former film critic turned independent producer. He is currently in pre-production on his first feature, A Waiter in Paris, an adaptation of Edward Chisholm’s bestselling memoir starring Leo Woodall and Clémence Poésy and directed by Peter Hoar.

After more than 25 years as one of the UK’s best-known film critics and broadcasters – including a long-running Observer column and a weekly slot on BBC Radio London – Jason founded Movie Love Productions in 2023 to move into producing distinctive, auteur-driven films. His debut production, Beshert, won the Pears Short Film Fund award in 2025.

He sits on the BAFTA film committee, is a former chairman of the London Film Critics’ Circle, has served on the board for the UK Jewish Film Festival, and curates the Cinedrome at Green Man Festival.
